Total pressure cells: how they work
TPCs consist of two stainless steel plates welded around their perimeter and separated by a cavity filled with de-aired hydraulic fluid. Pressure applied to the cell surfaces induces a corresponding change in the fluid pressure within the cavity, which is detected by a pressure transducer and converted into an electrical signal proportional to the applied load.
Applications and benefits
Thanks to their robust construction, high sensitivity, and long-term stability, total pressure cells provide a reliable solution for the continuous monitoring of embankments, foundations, retaining walls, and containment structures.
