Weir flow meter: purpose
The weir flow meter is designed for discharge measurement in open channels, based on the direct correlation between upstream water level and flow rate.
How it works
A sharp-crested weir, typically made of stainless steel, is installed inside a measuring tank and generates a controlled variation in water level as a function of discharge. Water level measurement is performed using a pressure or level transducer, enabling the hydraulic head to be converted into instantaneous flow rate.
