Rain gauge

Electric rain gauge: purpose

The electric rain gauge is a sensor designed for automated measurement of atmospheric precipitation, based on a high-reliability tipping-bucket system.

How it works

The device consists of a stainless-steel body with a calibrated inlet, where collected water is channeled through a funnel into a tipping-bucket mechanism. Each bucket-tipping event generates an electrical pulse proportional to the amount of precipitation.

Measurement

The instrument enables continuous rainfall measurement in terms of cumulative depth and intensity, with high accuracy and repeatability, in compliance with international standards for meteorological monitoring.
