Manual crackmeters

Manual crackmeter: purpose

The manual crackmeter is a simple and effective instrument designed for measuring and monitoring the evolution of cracks in civil structures and infrastructure.

How it is made

The device consists of two overlapping plates: a lower plate graduated in millimeters and an upper transparent plate with a reference grid. The plates slide relative to each other, allowing a direct reading of relative displacement.

Use

Installed across the crack, the crackmeter allows users to monitor the opening, closure, and relative displacement over time, in both horizontal and vertical directions, with immediate readings and no need for additional instrumentation.

Benefits

Thanks to its simplicity, robustness, and low cost, it is an ideal solution for preliminary inspections, manual monitoring, and applications requiring visual assessment with direct, easily interpretable measurements.
