Vibrating wire crackmeter: purpose
The vibrating wire crackmeter is an instrument designed for the continuous and highly reliable monitoring of displacement between two points located across a crack or structural joint. It is particularly suitable for long-term applications and automated monitoring installations.
How it works
The device consists of a vibrating wire displacement transducer integrated into a stainless-steel telescopic body with two anchor points. Variations in the distance between the anchors modify the wire tension, generating a change in vibration frequency proportional to the displacement.
Frequency signal
Unlike traditional analog signals, the frequency output signal ensures high long-term stability and allows transmission over long distances without signal degradation, making the sensor ideal for permanent installations and harsh environments.
Robustness and integration
The self-aligning joints and rugged construction ensure reliable operation even in the presence of misalignment or off-axis movement, while compatibility with data loggers and data acquisition systems allows integration into complex structural monitoring networks.
